SCORING AND GUIDELINES FOR THE 2014 MONTRAIL ULTRA CUP

Runners must register online at ultracup.montrail.com before any points will be awarded. Registration must take place within two weeks of the completion of your first Montrail Ultra Cup race, in order to receive points for that race.

After registration, Montrail will automatically track your finishes for the season and will post updated standings two weeks after each race on the Montrail Facebook Page.

Scoring:

Scores will be separated into male and female standings. Scoring will be weighted by distance, so the longer the race, the more points you'll receive. Scoring will also be based on your time, compared to the winning time. Bonus points will be awarded for finishing first through fifth place. Update: the male and female winner will receive 10 bonus points for a 1st place finish. Second place male and female will receive 5 points. Third place male and female will receive 3 points. Fourth place 2 points each. Fifth place 1 point each. The winner of a 50km race ends up with 13.1 points, the winner of a 50 mile race ends up with 15 points, the winner of a 100km race receives 16.2 points, and the winner of a 100 mile race receives 20 points. New for the 2014 season: there will be a maximum of three races scored for the standings.

Winners Time (minutes)    * distance factor + additional points (if applicable)
Your Time (minutes)

So, if you finish a 50 mile race in 9:32:27, we'll round to the nearest minute, so you'd have a 9:32. The winner finishes in 7:10. So, your score is:

430 minutes (winners time)    * 5 (distance factor) = 3.75 points
572 minutes (your time)

Your series score will your best results from three total races. You will be counted as a series participant and your score will make you eligible for the Ultra Cup if you compete in at least 2 races.
