January 15th Montrail Ultra Cup drawing will award 6 lucky winners free entry into one of the following races: Way Too Cool, American River or Miwok.
MONTRAIL ULTRA CUP SERIES GUIDELINES
To qualify, you must:
- Sign up by May 16, 2009 to be entered into the Montrail Ultra Cup Series.
- Update your own results online by May 16, 2009.
Ranking will be determined based on the following point system: entrants will receive points equal to his/her finishing position in each of three of the six qualifying events, and points equal to 50% of his/her finishing position in the Western States 100 event. (If entrant completes more than three qualifying events, entrant's best three events will be used to calculate points.) For example, if you finish 4th in three of the six qualifying events and third in the Western States 100, you will have a total of 13 ½ points (12 points for the qualifying events and 1 ½ points for the Western States 100). The lower your overall points, the higher you will be ranked for purposes of determining the winners of the Montrail Ultra Cup Series.
WESTERN STATES 100 AUTOMATIC QUALIFIER GUIDELINES
The top three male and the top three female winners in each of the six Western States 100 qualifying events (White River 50 mile, Mt. Masochist 50, JFK 50 Mile, Way Too Cool 50K, American River 50 and Miwok 100K) (each a "Top Three Winner") will automatically qualify to enter the Western States 100 event. When a qualifying opportunity is filled by an individual and that individual subsequently finishes in the top three of any of the remaining qualifying events, the opportunity will not roll down to lower-placed finishers, but will expire in that remaining event.
Each Top Three Winner must deliver his/her Western States 100 entry packet to the Western States 100 office within two weeks of completion of the event that qualifies him/her for automatic entry. Entry packets must include (1) a completed entry form, available by request from the Race Director at wser100@comcast.net or (916) 387-8796, (2) payment of the entry fee, and (3) completion of the eight-hour service requirement form, available at www.ws100.com/serviceform.pdf.
2008 - 2009 MONTRAIL ULTRA CUP SERIES PRIZE PURSE
FIRST PRIZE: One female and one male will each receive a prize package that includes $2,500 cash, recognition as Montrail Ultrarunner of the Year, a pair of Montrail shoes, a Nathan Hydration pack, and Nuun product. Approximate Retail Value (including cash): $2,750 U.S.
SECOND PRIZE: One female and one male will each receive a prize package that includes $1,000 cash, a pair of Montrail shoes, a Nathan Hydration pack, and Nuun product. Approximate Retail Value (including cash): $1,250 U.S.
THIRD PRIZE: One female and one male will each receive a prize package that includes $500 cash, a pair of Montrail shoes, a Nathan Hydration pack, and Nuun product. Approximate Retail Value (including cash): $750 U.S.
FOURTH PRIZE: One female and one male will each receive a prize package that includes a pair of Montrail shoes. Approximate Retail Value: $110 U.S.
FIFTH PRIZE: One female and one male will each receive a pair of Montrail flip-flops. Approximate Retail Value: $55 U.S.
COMMUNITY PRIZES: For those of you who don't make it into the Top 5 at the end of the season, don't worry. If you completed one, two or three Ultra Cup races we'll send you a cool iron-on Montrail Ultra Cup patch or jacket, at the end of the season that reflects the number of races you've completed:
1 race - Bronze patch
2 races - Silver patch
3 races - Gold patch
3 races and Western States - Special Montrail Ultra Cup embroidered, Mountain Hardwear jacket.
